Dennis Phillippi to be celebrity host at art auction

[singlepic id=121 w=320 h=240 mode=web20 float=right]Actor/comedian Dennis Phillippi will be this year’s auctioneer at the Art for Art’s Sake Auction April 10th. Phillippi, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, celebrates his 25th year as a Memphian this month. He is well known in the Memphis area for his years as House Emcee at the comedy clubs Sir Lafs-A-Lot and Comedy Zone. These days, he is traveling across the country performing stand up at corporate shows, where he gets to put on a suit and stand up in front of crowds of business men and women and make fun of their executive officers. His voice is familiar to listeners of AM 790, AM 1030, AM 1210 sports, and Rock 103. You may have heard him as the national spokesman for Backyard Burgers or The Commercial Appeal. His humorous observations appear in RSVP Magazine, and he is developing quite a résumé as an actor. He appeared in Craig Brewer’s The Poor and Hungry (2000) and Hustle & Flow (2005). His other acting credits include Suicide Jack (2008), N-Secure (2009), Daylight Fades (2009), and One Came Home (2010).
