Memphis, TN, August 31, 2010: MGLCC’s Outflix Film Festival begins September 10. For 13 years, Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center has presented films from around the globe of interest to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and our allies. This year’s lineup includes films from the Bahamas, Peru, Canada, United Kingdom and Israel, as well as the United States.
We believe that it is important for us to see people like ourselves on the big screen. The stories of our community are not often available in commercial venues. Outflix seeks to correct that. Films in this year’s festival provide a broad view of LGBT life whether in a film dealing with honest and open service in the military, living with the struggles and fears of aging, fighting for marriage equality or experiencing the passions and heartaches of our relationships. Outflix brings to the screen our history, our loves, our losses, and our triumphs. The festival presents an array of films from around the world. We invite the entire Mid-South to share those experiences with us at Outflix.
Outflix runs for 7 days from September 10 to September 16 at Malco’s Ridgeway Four, 5853 Ridgeway Center Parkway, Memphis, TN 38120
For more information about the films and the schedule, see the Outflix website at www.outflixfestival.org. Tickets are available for purchase on-line or at the door.
MGLCC’s Mission: Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center is a mechanism for change in the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people to facilitate long-term positive growth in themselves and in the community of the Mid-South.
