First Baptist church invites the public to attend the school consolidation forum to be held on Feb 21st.
From First Baptist’s website:
Please Join Us for a Community Forum on School Consolidation Issues!
“The Pros and Cons of merging the Memphis City and Shelby County School Systems.”
Monday, February 21st, at 6 p.m. – First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall
Featured speakers include County Commissioner and University of Memphis Law Professor Steve Mulroy, Jackson Baker of The Memphis Flyer and Ryan Tracy from Stand for Children.
The forum will address written questions submitted prior to the start of the event, to ensure that it remains an informative discussion, rather than a political debate.
The goals of this forum are to:
- Explain how we now find ourselves at this crossroads, deciding whether to vote Yes or No on the March 8 Referendum;
- Evaluate the pros and cons of consolidation, both for the citizens of Memphis and for those in other parts of Shelby County; and
- Explore the possible consequences of maintaining the status quo.
All are welcome to this program.
Free childcare will be provided for children under 7. Reserve your spot by Friday, February 18 by clicking here.
Please submit questions by clicking here. You may also arrive early to submit a written question.
