CBU to Take 10,000 Steps with DeNeuville Learning Center
Official Press Release from Christian Brothers University:
Memphis– Christian Brothers University (CBU) is hosting 10,000 Steps: A Journey to Benefit DeNeuville Learning Center on Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. on the CBU campus. The benefit aims to raise awareness of different educational opportunities and obstacles through an innovative game board concept as well as funds for the DeNeuville Learning Center.
The event is a fun, non-competitive fundraising event in which an innovative game board concept will be used to represent different educational opportunities and obstacles. Participants of all ages will choose from four tracks to complete their journey around the campus: pre-college, college, adult education, and global perspective of education. As participants walk around the campus “game board” they will receive “chance cards” with entertaining, interesting and eye-opening obstacles and opportunities that represent their track. Opportunity cards will move them through the game more quickly; obstacle cards will direct participants to fun challenges, similar to those seen in the game show Minute to Win It.
DeNeuville Learning Center (DLC), operated by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the level of poverty among women and children through education in the Memphis area.
Registration begins at 9:15 a.m. prior to the actual event, 10,000 Steps, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. The fees to participate in the event are $20 for adults, $10 for students, and $35 for a family. Enter campus from Central Avenue, across from the fairgrounds.
