News from the Cooper-Young Community Farmers Market:

We’re Opening This Saturday, April 30!

Everyone is invited to our First Birthday Celebration

Hello Cooper-Young Community Farmers Market Friends!

We’re thrilled to announce that we’re almost ready for the opening of our second season this Saturday, April 30, and we’re kicking it off by throwing a 1st Birthday Party Celebration with live music, cake, kids’ activities, and other festivities!

Look for our tents to pop up on First Congregational Church’s parking lot at 1000 S. Cooper, at the corner of Cooper and Walker, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. every Saturday through October.

We are excited to welcome our loyal shoppers and farmers, food producers, and artisans and to announce that the market is growing with the addition of several new vendors.

New this year, you’ll be able to sample farmers’ products right from their tables and to enjoy a wealth of presentations and demonstrations, including cooking, nutrition, health and wellness, and even homesteading skills! We will also be accepting SNAP benefits and credit and debit transactions within a couple of weeks!

Come and peruse a bounty of spring produce like strawberries, radishes, carrots, scallions, kale, and lettuces, as well as products from CYCFM’s other food producers, prepared food vendors, and artisan handcrafters. This Saturday, One Sharp Dude will be ready to sharpen all blades that need a keen edge, including knives, scissors, and lawn mower blades.

Be sure to stop by the new Market Cafe, next to the Market Information booth, where you can choose from a variety of beverages. We will be featuring hot and iced coffee, as well as bags of whole beans and ground, from the local artisan roasters who are creating a buzz in Memphis–J. Brooks Coffee.

In the words of our CYCFM president, farmer Lori Greene, “We’ve been absolutely counting the days until opening when we can reconnect with familiar faces and welcome new friends. We love having the opportunity to bring people together to celebrate the abundance of our region. Please stop by to see what this market has to offer!”

Our grand opening and first birthday party will kick off a farmers market season that will be even better than last year’s.
