Gallery Fifty Six will present two art exhibitions during the month of May. A Spring Group Exhibition will be showing from May 6 through May 14, with an artist’s reception on May 6, from 5-8pm. The reception is free and open to the public. Participating artists will include John Armistead, Paul Clarke, Emery Franklin, Rollin Kocsis, Bridget Russell, Madison Sherman, John Sosh, Mary Bowman, Giorgio Vaselli, and others. The gallery is located at 2256 Central Ave.

For the second event in May, Gallery Fifty Six and the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County will present Paws for Art. Over 40 Memphis-area artists will each create an 18 x 24 inch canvas depicting an animal of some kind. The paintings will be auctioned off at a special event on May 26. All proceeds will go to the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.

The gallery will have an artists’ reception open to the public on Friday, May 20, from 6-8pm. Works to be auctioned will be on display at the gallery from May 20 through May 26. The gallery will be open on these days, including Monday and Tuesday, but closed on Sunday. Please call 901-276-1251 for hours.

The live auction will be held at WaterWorks located at 741 Cox Street (off Central Ave.) on Thursday May 26, from 6-8pm. There will be a wine reception with light hors d’oeuvres. Tickets to the event are $25 and will be available online at memphishumane.org or by calling 901-937-3903.
