Habitat for Humanity hosts ‘Stock the ReStore’ donation drive
By Lauren Hannaford
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis will host “Stock the ReStore,” a two-day donation drive, from 10am to 6pm on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21 at the new ReStore at 7130 Winchester Road.
The goal of the donation drive is to increase the ReStore’s inventory before the store’s grand opening on Thursday, June 9. The ReStore accepts donations of new and gently used household items and building supplies, such as furniture, appliances, books, cabinetry, windows, hardware, lumber, tools, flooring, lighting, toys, and much more. The ReStore does not accept clothing, mattresses, or used carpet. All donations are tax-deductible.
“With summer just around the corner, many people are busy cleaning out closets and attics or remodeling and redecorating. They may be considering dumping those items or hosting a yard sale. We want to encourage them to consider donating to the ReStore,” said Joe Davidson, manager of the Memphis ReStore. “The ReStore is not only a green alternative to disposing of unwanted items, but it’s also a great way to support Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis. Once the ReStore is open, it will help support Habitat’s work in Memphis.”
ReStore staff will be on site from 10am to 6pm on May 20 and 21 to accept donations. If donors have large items they cannot bring in themselves, they can schedule a pickup for a later time. Pickups are scheduled through Davidson by contacting him at 901-RESTORE (901-737-8673) or at email@example.com. For those unable to attend Stock the ReStore, donations are currently accepted on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 9am-1pm.
