Beethoven Club sponsoring free concert April 15

The Beethoven Club at 263 S. McLean Ave. will host the premire of the Grace Chamber Players in a free concert at 3 p.m. Saturday.As part of its ongoing effort to support rising young classical musicians, the Beethoven Club is sponsoring a new chamber music ensemble to be known as the Grace Chamber Players. They will be giving concerts of more contemporary chamber music at the Beethoven Club and at other venues. The first concert will be performed by University of Memphis junior Andrew Clark (clarinet), student of Carina Nyberg Washington; University of Memphis sophomore Bethany Beck (French horn), student of Dan Phillips; and Tony Chen (piano), 8th grader at Lausanne Collegiate School and student of Rose Marie Wang. The program will be trios by Gunther Schuller and Alec Wilder. They are being directed by Beethoven Club Vice-President Mary Ann Covert, retired professor of music, Ithaca College.
