Details: Operation Feed is the Mid-South Food Bank’s largest drive. It began in 1991, and last year raised food and money to provide one million healthy meals for 21,000 hungry and needy people in the Mid-South. This is the first time the CYBA has participated, and is hoping to make an impact with its community wide campaign.
Businesses have offered the following ways to accept donations:
Cooper Young Community Farmer’s Market: Will be accepting donations Saturday, June 23rd at the Farmer’s Market (1000 S. Cooper Street in the First Congregational Church parking lot). A free cup of coffee will be offered to anyone donating two cans or more.
Haizlip Studio: Will be conducting a money and food drive through the end of the month. Food can be dropped off at 2125 Central Ave. or picked up by calling 573-3417.
Java Cabana: Will be collecting cans during their weekly open mic night, Thursday, June 21. The reading will be from 8-10 p.m. at 2170 Young Ave.
Me and Mrs. Jones: Will have a special offer for those donating cans at their location on Thursday June 21. They are at 889 South Cooper St.
Sweetgrass: Will donate a portion of their sales Thursday, June 21 to help feed the need.
Only non-perishable items will be accepted and must be standard size (any can larger than 29 oz. is too big.) For bagged items (rice, beans, etc.), one-pound bags are best.
