Huey’s Restaurants Partners with Soles4Souls to Host Shoe Drive
MEMPHIS (July 10, 2012) – Huey’s Restaurants are partnering with Soles4Souls to host a drive for their employees to collect new and gently-used shoes for the non-profit organization. The shoe drive will last from Monday, July 16th-Tuesday, July 31st. Each Huey’s location will have a bin provided by Soles4Souls for the shoes, and they are asking each employee to donate. As an incentive, the store who donates the most shoes will be thrown a congratulatory party by the home office.
Soles4Souls is a non-profit based out of Nashville, TN, whose mission is to “collect new shoes to give relief to the victims of abject suffering and collect used shoes to support micro-business efforts to eradicate poverty.” Since 2005, the organization has donated over 17 million shoes to countries across the world including Kenya, Nepal, Thailand, and the United States.
Huey’s is partnering with Stacey Reed, a local Memphian who is doing her own personal shoe drive in the Memphis region for the organization. Her goal is to collect 30,000 pairs of shoes by the end of this year for Soles4Souls. Currently, Stacey has local support from the Memphis Fire Department and Office of Sustainability, as well as many offices, schools, and churches.
