Mid-South Peace and Justice Center moving

The Mid-South Peace and Justice Center, which has been housed at First Congregational Church in Cooper-Young since 2001, announced Sept. 19 that the group will move to a new office near the University of Memphis.

Its new office at 3573 Southern Ave. will be shared with GrowMemphis and the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition. Moving day is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, and the group says it will need volunteer help with the move. Stop by the office at 1000 S. Cooper or call 517-8689.

The coalition is also sponsoring a Junk for Justice yard sale in front of First Congo 7 a.m. to noon this Saturday.

The 30-year-old social justice organization was originally housed at Prescott Baptist Church in East Buntyn until 2001, when it moved to First Congo. The group has grown to seven staff members and about a dozen interns.
