Neighborhood shops celebrate holiday open house Nov. 7-9

Local singer/songwriter Michael Joyner will play at the gazebo Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It will be a shopping extravaganza at this year’s Holiday Open House in Cooper-Young, Nov. 7, 8 and 9.

The Palladio Group and Market Central will start the event off with a Christmas Open House Reception on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 5-7 p.m. The antique merchants, housed in two stores on Central Avenue, will offer for food tastings, a jewelry exposition and specialty guest exhibitors. The reception will feature works by artists Ron Olson, Rollin Kocsis, David and Hilary Butler, Emily Ozier, and Paul Edelstein.  Enjoy dinner at Café Palladio featuring a fashion show with Lisa Doss’s Muse. On Friday and Saturday, there are two book signings with local authors Renea Pembroke and Reggie Jones at Palladio, and a bow-making workshop.

Thursday through Saturday, Toad Hall Antiques at Central and Cooper will feature local artists Lynn Dunlap Jewelry Designs and Vintage Gypsy Jewelry along with holiday desserts and drinks.

On Friday and Saturday from 1o a.m. to 5 p.m., stop by Flashback on Central for vintage holiday wear, and Xanadu, down the street, has 20 percent off all used books.

Langford Market at Central and Cooper is open late with a hot cider bar on Friday and hot chocolate bar on Saturday. Bring a toy for their Toys for Tots donation box and receive special discounts on purchases. You can also support local artisans and make a purchase from their holiday gift trunk shows on display.

On Cooper Street and Young Avenue, enjoy 20 percent off purchases of Perenelle beauty products at Midtown Acupuncture, all books at Burke’s Book Store, vintage clothing and art at Java Cabana, records, T-shirts and other Goner Records swag, hippy bags at Kindred Spirit, and all FLAX products at Loudean’s, plus sign up for a door drawing for a $50 gift certificate.

The Polish Bottle will be introducing their new Nova Lash (eyelash extensions) as well as local vendors Candle Magic, Mischief and Sweet Shea Skin Candy pop-ups. Enjoy $5 off all nail services and $25 mini-facials and consultations.

Me & Mrs. Jones will offer 25 percent off all purchases on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Charm Boutique will have 30 percent all purchases at their store between 11 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Allie Cat Arts will have art by more than 50 local artists and free refreshments for guests to the shop on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.

Celtic Crossing and Beauty Shop will have special holiday open house discounts on food and drinks Saturday and Sunday.
