CY Young Artist Contest winners announced

The Cooper Young Business Association is proud to announce this year’s winners of the 2013 Young Artist Contest.  This post-festival event is held annually to encourage the love of art in school age children residing in the Mid-South.  The CYBA received 255 entries for the contest which had a theme of “Cooper Young – A Top 10 Neighborhood in America.”

A reception for winners and artists will be held at Peabody Elementary located at 2086 Young Ave. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 from 6 to 7 p.m.

This contest is open to children, all over Memphis and surrounding communities, grades 1-12 and is sponsored by Evolve Bank and Trust and Yarnell’s Ice Cream. All entries will be on exhibit for viewing in the cafeteria of Peabody School on the night of the reception.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Three $500 First Place, Three $100 Second Place, Three $75 Third Place, and Three $50 Honorable Mention; one each for grades 1st – 4th, grades 5th – 8th, and grades 9th – 12th.  Please join us for refreshments, fellowship and some incredible artwork!  This is a free, family-friendly art show open to the public.   We encourage everyone to come and enjoy the talent of these fine young artists.
