Letter from the president: Up on the rooftop, raccoon claws …

June awkwardly tries to get in the holiday spirit.

Another holiday season approaches, and as most know, I’m a bit of a Grinch when it comes to holiday merriment in general. Facing my first holiday season in an empty house will be an adjustment, but luckily, I have an awesome group of friends and neighbors to distract me … and then there’s the dogs, and what seems to be a huge, momma raccoon with a bunch of babies living in my attic again.

As I sit in my office writing this letter, my dogs are furiously pacing around my office following the bumps and squeaks from what sounds like a rugby match in my attic. Personally, I’m thrilled that they are playing during the day, hopefully wearing themselves out,so that they will discontinue the night games that keep Cooper and Evelyn barking suddenly throughout the night.

Somehow, I don’t think I’m that lucky and I’m pretty sure that the bill for the exterminator will cut into my budget for Tyler’s birthday and Christmas presents. Looks like he is getting the DuckDynasty Chia Pet after all.

Anyway, I hope all our volunteers are ready to be appreciated at this year’s CYCA HolidayVolunteer Party at Stone Soup on December 10th, and I can’t wait to announce this year’s Alexia Hampton Volunteer Award!

Don’t forget to take a break from your holiday shopping to spend some time helping out at the Membership Mailer Stuffing on December 14th.

And finally, join us for my favorite holiday tradition of all, stuffing and delivering the goodie bags for the police and firefighters on Christmas Eve.

Fa la la la la…la la la…la.
