CY First Thursday Night Out on May 1 from 5 to 9 p.m. is full of music, art, and fashion finds.  Stroll our Historically Hip District and get in on some of the best dining the city has to offer along with live music and side trips to retail shops that are usually closed at night. The party starts at 5 pm so don’t be late.  Be prepared to lose yourself in all the fun and see why Cooper Young was named “one of the Top 10 Great Neighborhoods in America.”

Live music at the gazebo sponsored by Central Automotive is a well-known Memphis duo, Cherry Brooks and Cal Jackson.  Take a seat in our newly landscaped neighborhood square and enjoy their soulful jazz tunes from 6 to 9 p.m. on this evening.  Other music offered is over at the Café Ole patio under the palm trees with Charvey McLemore from 7 to 11 p.m. and you can catch the Bluff City Backsliders on the patio at Celtic Crossing starting at 5:30 p.m.  Java Cabana has a night of original songs and poetry with their Open Mic Night.  Chris Johnson of American Fiction will be appearing at Wish located at 2157 Central Avenue.

Over at Allie Cat Arts see new items by Barry Joyce, Karen Capps and Lisa Lumb to name a few of the over 80 artists that display and sell in this unique gallery owned and operated by Nicolle Phillippe.  Jay Etkin Gallery is featuring paintings this month by James Koskinas from his Angels Series as well as recent work by gallery artists.  Greencork has local artist, Julie Blackwell Trotter on display as well as works by Eric Painter, Virginia Schoenster and Sharon Grinspan.  At Phillip Ashley Chocolates, you can see paintings by Edwin McSwine and get discounts on chocolate.  Recent work by the students of the Memphis College of Art’s Paper Arts class will be on display at Tsunami.  Corey Mesler, owner of Burke’s Books will be reading and signing his newest full-length poetry collection, The Catastrophe of my Personality starting at 5:30 p.m.  Cover artist, Chloe Mesler with be a joining her father for this event.

Speaking of fashion, be sure to Sip & Shop at the special appearance of the Henny Penny Mobile Boutique that will be making a stop at Me & Mrs. Jones located at 889 South Cooper.  Loudeans knows all about FLAX and their spring and summer fashions have just landed for all you beach girls.  Want to pop-up shop?  Wish, Langford Market and Arthouse T-Shirts will be at the gazebo so you can do just that.  Happy Hocker Pawnshop has vintage and antique jewelry on sale up to 50% off.   Charm Boutique will have discounts on clothing items as well as refreshments.
