Aldo’s Pizza Pies, the downtown restaurant that announced in June it would be opening a second location in Cooper-Young, is already taking shape with new additions to its future home at 752 S. Cooper.
Building owner Charlie Ryan recently took out an $80,000 building permit to add an enclosed, brick patio that would support a second, elevated patio on its roof. The new structure would match the existing building and will more than double its size to 1,900 square feet.
Aldo’s Pizza Pies, managed by namesake Aldo Dean, who also owns downtown’s Bar Dog Tavern, opened downtown in 2012 and quickly built a strong following for its simple recipe of premium, scratch-made pizzas and a plentiful beer selection. The restaurant currently has an 85 percent rating on review site Urbanspoon and four stars on Yelp.
