C-Y Festival partners with groups to provide shuttle service

The biggest party of the summer, the Evolve Bank & Trust Cooper-Young Festival, has partnered with three local groups to provide shuttle services to and from this year’s festival slated for Saturday, September 13th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Cooper-Young neighborhood.

Partners for the shuttle services are Blues City Tours’ Memphis HOP, Simon Oak Court Mall, and Lindenwood Christian Church.

Starting at 9 a.m., festivalgoers can jump on board a Memphis Hop bus outside the Macy’s cosmetic department on the Southern Avenue side of Oak Court Mall located at 4465 Poplar Avenue. Shuttle services will continue throughout the day every two hours until 5 p.m. Festival attendees can be picked up at the northwest corner of Cooper and Central to return to their cars every two hours starting at 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with an additional slot at 7 p.m. Cost of the round trip ticket is $10.

Director of Public Relations with Blues City Tours, Monica Holley said, “This is the perfect opportunity for Cooper-Young Festival fans to get to and from the Festival without having to worry about where to park or having to walk a long distance. Oak Court Mall is a short distance for residents in East Memphis and Germantown and a secured place to leave cars.”

Lindenwood Christian Church located at 2400 Union Avenue will provide 15 minute cycle drops from the church to the northwest corner of Cooper and Central in their church buses. The Lindenwood shuttle will also begin at 9 a.m. and end at 8 p.m.  Lindenwood will have parking lot monitors to help park your car once you come onto their site. There will be room for collapsible strollers and wheelchairs on the air-conditioned buses.

Drew Mason, an organizer for Lindenwood explained, “The church committee thought it would be a neighborly thing to do; to ease parking and help out one of our favorite areas of town.”

While the shuttle from Lindenwood Church is free, there is a suggested donation of $5.
