A Holiday Treat for our Police and Firefighters
The holiday season is often a time to show our love for family and friends and, as a community, Cooper Young has a wonderful civic family in the men and women who keep us safe. These dedicated members of our police and fire departments risk their lives each day to make our own lives better, even in the face of increasing budgetary challenges.
We would like to once again come together and show our love and appreciation for these brave individuals by stuffing treat bags for those officers and firefighters assigned to work Christmas Eve and Day.
On Christmas Eve, the Cooper Young Community Association will have volunteers fill bags with portable treats and drinks for the Memphis Fire and Police Departments. If you would like to donate some holiday refreshments, you can drop items — approximately enough to fill 70 bags — at our office at 2298 Young Avenue between 7 and 8 pm on December 24th. Bags will be delivered for 10 p.m. roll call that night. Homemade and store-bought treats are welcome, and we encourage everyone to include your family’s information for that special personal touch.
This is one of our favorite events all year and is even great to share with the kids! Every bag is filled with Holiday cheer and appreciation so please join us in this wonderful annual tradition. — KS
