Children’s music program resumes at First Congo

The children’s music program Music For Aardvarks begins its spring sessions in March. Parents can sign their kids up for the 10 week courses now at memphisaardvarks.com.

The program was created in 1997 in Brooklyn, NY by rock composer, musician, and father of three, David Weinstone. It is distinct from other children’s music programs in that all classes are based around Mr. Weinstone’s original songs, rhythms, and chants. In an exhilarating range of musical styles, Aardvark songs reflect and celebrate the lives of kids growing up today. The music is innovative, intelligent, and irresistibly appealing to both kids and their parents.

Classes are of mixed age from 6 months to 5 years. Class activities, which include sing-a-longs, rhythm making, free form dance breaks, and instrumental jams with shakers, drums, sticks, and tambourines, are accessible to all, from babies who bounce and babble, to toddlers who move and groove. The range of developmental levels in the class creates a fertile environment for learning and growing, as each child participates at a pace that is right for him/her.

The Midtown classes will be held at First Congo Church at 1000 Cooper St. Classes begin March 23 with seven weekly session currently scheduled for Midtown. Cost is $185 plus $100 for each additional child.
