For 2015, the Cooper-Young Business Association has abandoned the old First Thursday Night Outs in favor of a new monthly event.

On March 6, the businesses of the neighborhood will celebrate the first Cooper-Young Art Tour. The Art Tour will be held from 6-9 p.m. on the first Friday of each month throughout the Cooper-Young District. Jay Etkin, owner of Cooper-Young’s Jay Etkin Gallery, has created and will curate special art exhibitions and pop-up galleries at numerous business locations in our unique, hip neighborhood. Examples include artist Jill Samuels displaying, at Langford Market, artist Adam Farmer at Burkes Bookstore, and painter Johnny Taylor exhibiting at Imagine Vegan Café.

Other businesses and organizations participating in the first Cooper-Young Art Tour include the Cooper-Young Community Association, Ray Rico Freelance, Strano, Co-Work, Celtic Crossing, Me & Mrs. Jones, and Langford Market.

According to Etkin, future art tours will involve more businesses and different kinds of art, including pop-up dance performances and other outdoors activity as the weather improves.

For more information, including a complete list of participating businesses, check out the Cooper-Young Business Association online at cooperyoung.com or on Facebook.
