Letter From the President-September: Volunteer blues, brews

June readies for beerfest.

June readies for beerfest.

Although I usually look forward to race/festival season, I am always relieved when it’s over. It’s an exhausting two days, but worth all the hard work. I greatly appreciate everyone who volunteered to help us that weekend, and especially want to thank those volunteers that showed up for their shifts.

It takes a good number of volunteers to make the 4-Miler, as well as the festival booth, happen every year. And it never ceases to amaze me how many people sign up for shifts that never show and don’t even call to give notice to cover the shift. I would definitely like to thank the volunteers that sacrificed their festival fun by staying over to cover those open shifts. You know who you are and I owe you many beers.

But now comes the time to focus on the upcoming Cooper-Young Beerfest and the Great Pumpkin Halloween decorating contest! Of course, Beerfest is the event that all volunteers show up for and stay until the end. The Beerfest Committee has done a wonderful job year after year putting together what is probably the best beer fest around! If you are interested in coming, I sure hope you already have your tickets, because we sell out every year. Hope to see you there. Cheers!
