Town hall meeting shines light on PTSD

Veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and their families are invited to attend a town hall meeting dealing with issues surrounding post traumatic stress disorder 2-5 p.m. Saturday, October 24th at First Congregational Church (1000 S. Cooper St.) in Cooper-Young.

“Victory Over PTSD: A Safe Start to Healing” will deal with depression, anger, isolation, feelings of emptiness, and thoughts of suicide linked to military deployment and similarly high-stress work environments such as first responders. The event will include a history of PTSD and its causes, a rundown of resources for sufferers, testimonial from survivors, a discussion of Veterans of America, the Vet Center, the VVA Veteran Service Office, the Tennessee Department VVA, VVA chapter 875, Veterans for Peace chapter 149.
