First Congregational is expanding its programming for folks over 50 in Cooper-Young!

According to Rev. Cheryl Cornish, senior pastor at First Congo, “We realize that there are many seniors in our neighborhood who would enjoy the opportunity to meet each other, socialize, and find support for some of their specific needs.  We want these programs to really build a happy sense of friendship and community!”

Two programs started in March.

Senior Games:  Come every Wednesday to the “Hub” for lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and stay for card games and board games until 3 p.m. You’re welcome to participate, no matter what age!

Tri-cycle Rides in Overton Park: First Congo is organizing group tricycle rides on Fridays through April starting at 10 a.m.

For seniors who would like to take up bicycle riding but worry about falling, an adult tricycle is a smart option. It provides stability, you can ride at any pace you choose, and tricycles have a very low “step through,” which makes getting on and off of them quite easy.

First Congo has 10 tricycles to share and use. Participants are asked to gather at the Overton Park Golf Clubhouse for a leisurely ride through the Old Growth Forest’s paved path. Riders should wear comfortable clothes.  Rides will take place each Friday (Except Good Friday – March 25th)
