Letter: Club encourages participation in Garden Walk

Dear Cooper -Young Residents,

The Cooper Young Garden Club would like to personally invite you to participate in our first ever Cooper-Young Garden Walk. This neighborhood tour will take place on Saturday, May 21st, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Early bird tickets are only $10 and can be purchased online at cooperyoung.org or in person at the Cooper-Young Community Association offices at 2298 Young. Day-of-walk tickets are $15.

We are so excited to show off the wonderful, unique, and beautiful gardens of Cooper Young. The purpose of our Garden Walk is to invite visitors and neighbors to take a peek at what our vibrant community has to offer. We want to show off our cozy streets and trendy shops. We also want to encourage neighborhood beautification and pride. For our first year, we will be highlighting 23 gardens throughout our neighborhood along with six neighborhood green spaces. The money raised from this event will be used to fund beautification projects throughout Cooper-Young this upcoming year.

We’re inviting all homes in the neighborhood to join this garden party by dressing up your front and side yards before the big day. The more homes decorated with flowers the better to highlight the charm, warmth, community, and pride of our historic neighborhood.

Here are some ways you can show your neighborhood pride:

  • • Mow/edge your lawn
  • • Mulch your beds
  • • Plant flowers
  • • Clean the street gutter and sweep your sidewalk
  • • Don’t leave trash on sidewalk that weekend
  • • Buy tickets to garden walk for you and family
  • • Hang garden walk flyers at your business or church
  • • Talk up the walk with your friends, family, and co-workers
  • • Organize your neighbors to beautify your block
  • • Have a porch party that Saturday
  • • Like our Cooper-Young Garden Walk page on Facebook and share with your friends.

While this is our first garden walk, we hope to make it an annual event that brings in hundreds of visitors. That means we will be looking for new gardens to highlight next year. We look forward to seeing your beautiful yard. Thanks for participating and showing your pride!

Sincerely,

Cooper Young Garden Walk Committee
