The Evolve Bank and Trust Cooper-Young Festival is pleased to announce that Jenean Morrison has been named the poster artist for the 2016 edition of the event.
Morrison is an artist and surface/textile designer based in Midtown Memphis, with a colorful studio in the heart of Cooper-Young. Her popular coloring books for adults have reached the Amazon bestseller lists in both the U.S. and Italy and have been published in France, Japan, Turkey and Brazil. Currently, she has more than one million coloring books in print. Recently, she was one of 16 artists hand selected to participate in Adobe’s “Make It on Mobile” summit, a two-day, hands-on immersive exploration of creativity on mobile devices held last month at the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York.
The Cooper-Young festival, celebrating its 29th anniversary, will be celebrated on Saturday, September 17th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a rain date of Sunday, September 18th. Artist vendor booths go on sale on Wednesday, June 15th at midnight. Booths are sold on a first come, first served basis to artists in the Mid-South and across the country. On the festival website, cooperyoungfestival.com, you can view maps of the festival site and pick out your favorite space for this year’s 29th anniversary event.
The three days of festivities kick off on Thursday, September 15th, with the Cooper-Young Festival Art Invitational hosted by CoWork Memphis located at 902 South Cooper. The show will highlight more than 25 talented artists that live and work in Cooper Young.
Then on Friday, September 16th, 2,000 are expected to turn out for the Cooper-Young Festival Friday 4-miler race. Runners can register now online at cooperyoung4miler.racesonline.com.
It all builds to Saturday, a whole day of free, family-friendly, music, arts and crafts street festival fun. The festival is the largest, single day annual event in the region.
