By-laws changes proposed

This year has been an important one of change for the CYCA. We’ve unveiled our updated logo, sought your input for new programs and projects, and presented details on our 5 Year Plan for the neighborhood. Now it’s time to take a look at our by-laws and make a few changes to reflect our evolving organization.

Visit or or visit the CYCA office to view proposed updates to our by-laws. In general, we clarified some previously confusing language throughout the document. We also gave special attention to our voting process for members, adding details about when and how votes are to be collected. Finally, we removed the nominating committee for officers and added a personnel committee for the management of our small staff (one full-time employee and a few part-time contractors for the Lamplighter).

We know we can always be changing for the better, and we hope that these improvements meet with your approval. All registered members are eligible to vote for the changes, and we will hold voting on Tuesday, December 13th. You will be able to vote at our annual holiday party or by contacting us at 901-272-2922 or emailing As stipulated in our by-laws, these changes will be approved if two thirds of those who vote do so in favor of our updates. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. — Kristen Schebler
