Board members form base of CYCA
Aside from the hard work contributed by our Executive Director, Kristen Schebler, all of the work done by the Cooper-Young Community Association (CYCA) is thanks to your neighbors who volunteer their time throughout the year. Because of your tremendous support and our terrific volunteer base in Cooper-Young, the CYCA, its projects, and responsibilities have grown tremendously over the years.
The overall management of the organization is performed by a Board of Directors that also consists of volunteers who give many hours each year to the community. Among the board members, our bylaws specify that four members be elected to fill the leadership roles of president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary. The CYCA holds elections for two of these positions in April of every year with two year terms.
I am excited to announce that last month Liz Royer was elected to a second term as vp and John Condon was elected to his first term as secretary. I want to specifically thank both Liz and John for volunteering to be on the board and taking on the extra level of responsibilities that come with these leadership roles. If you see them around CY, please thank them for the countless hours they so generously give to our community.
We are always in need of additional board members with energy and new ideas. If you would like to get more involved and make an impact on our community, please contact Kristen at the CYCA office to learn more about our available opportunities. — Mark Morrison
