Cooper-Young Pup Crawl  benefits Humane Society


The Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County will benefit from the Cooper-Young Pup Crawl on Thursday, May 11th, from 6-9 p.m. The Cooper-Young Pup Crawl is hosted by the Cooper-Young Business Association and presented by top sponsors Memphis Animal Clinic and Memphis Veterinary Specialists.

Twelve Cooper-Young restaurants and bars will offer special canine-themed drinks during the Pup Crawl, and they will donate 10 percent of sales from pup crawlers to the Humane Society.

To participate, simply stop at the gazebo at Cooper Street and Young Avenue to get a free wristband to ensure that the drink sales are counted. HSMSC dogs will serve as outdoor greeters at each participating restaurant, so attendees will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with some of Memphis’ finest adoptable canines. HSMSC will have special Pup Crawl t-shirts for sale to raise additional funds toward its mission of rescuing injured and abused animals.

Beauty Shop: Walking the Dog

Burke’s Book Store: They will have a large assortment of doggie related titles on display, as a well as a large window display of dog titled books. 10% of sales go to HSMSC.

Cafe Ole: Clifford’s Cocktail

Celtic Crossing Irish Pub: Irish Setter

Hammer & Ale: Airedale Ale

Mulan Asian Bistro: Foo Dog

Strano!: Puppini

Sweet Grass/Next Door: Ruff Punch

Young Avenue Deli: Junkyard Dog

The event is dog-friendly. Many Cooper-Young restaurants and bars with patios welcome dogs.

“Cooper-Young residents and businesses love pets,” said Tamara Cook, director of the Cooper-Young Business Association. “The Pup Crawl is a fun way for people to enjoy our walkable neighborhood and the creative libations at our best restaurants, all while helping injured and abused animals at the Humane Society.”

The event will feature live music by the Justin Bloss Duo in the gazebo. Pup Crawlers who get three or more restaurants punched on a punch card will be entered to win a gift basket from the Cooper-Young Business Association.
